EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique - Tapping with Kylie

🌿 EFT – EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUES (TAPPING)
A Calmer Mind • Greater Emotional Awareness • A Healthier You

Sometimes, we know how we want to feel, but our emotions and automatic responses seem to have other ideas.

Stress, anxiety, overthinking, emotional eating and self-doubt can influence how we think, feel and respond to everyday situations.

And while understanding these challenges is important, sometimes we need practical tools to help manage our emotional responses.

This is where Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), commonly known as Tapping, may be helpful.

At Holistic Nutritional Health Care & Hypnotherapy (HNHC), I incorporate EFT as part of a holistic, person-centred approach to emotional wellbeing.

What is EFT Tapping?

EFT is a mind-body technique that combines gentle fingertip tapping on specific acupoints, primarily on the face and upper body, while focusing on a particular thought, feeling or emotional concern.

It incorporates elements of psychological approaches, including acknowledging difficult emotions and developing more balanced responses.

The aim is to support emotional regulation, reduce distress and help people respond to challenges with greater awareness and flexibility.

What can EFT help with?

Research into EFT is continuing, with some encouraging findings, particularly for anxiety and stress-related symptoms.

EFT may be explored as a supportive technique for:

  • Stress and anxiety: Helping reduce feelings of tension, worry and emotional distress.

  • Emotional overwhelm: Creating an opportunity to recognise and manage difficult emotions.

  • Overthinking: Practising a calmer response to repetitive or distressing thoughts.

  • Emotional eating: Exploring feelings and triggers associated with eating behaviours.

  • Confidence and self-esteem: Addressing distressing thoughts and feelings associated with self-doubt.

  • Fears and performance anxiety: Supporting the management of uncomfortable emotional responses.

  • Life changes: Providing a practical self-help strategy during challenging transitions.

What does the evidence tell us?

Several clinical studies and systematic reviews have reported improvements in anxiety, stress and some other psychological symptoms following EFT interventions.

However, the research has limitations, including small study sizes, differences in treatment methods and variable study quality.

EFT is therefore best understood as a complementary therapeutic technique, rather than a replacement for established psychological or medical treatments. More high-quality research is needed to determine its effectiveness across different conditions.

What can you expect during a session?

EFT sessions are tailored to your individual needs and comfort.

Together, we identify a particular emotion, thought or situation you would like to work on.

Using a structured tapping sequence, we gently explore the emotional response while incorporating supportive statements and opportunities for reflection.

Throughout the process, you're encouraged to notice changes in your thoughts, feelings and physical sensations.

One of the practical benefits of EFT is that, once learnt, it can be used as a self-help strategy between sessions.

You don't have to eliminate every difficult emotion to move forward. Sometimes, learning to respond differently is an important first step.

At HNHC, the focus is on helping you develop greater emotional awareness, practical coping skills and confidence in managing life's challenges.

Small steps towards meaningful change.
